These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the website shahenshahheritagenigeen.com and
your booking and stay at Shahenshah Heritage Houseboat, located on Nigeen Lake, Srinagar, Jammu &
Kashmir. By accessing this website, submitting a booking enquiry, or staying at our property, you agree to
be bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully before booking.
1. Definitions
- "We", "us", "our", "the houseboat" refers to Shahenshah Heritage Houseboat and its owners, management, and staff.
- "You", "guest", "customer" refers to any individual making a booking, enquiry, or staying at the property.
- "Booking" refers to any confirmed reservation made via our website, WhatsApp, phone, email, or a third-party booking platform.
- "Stay" refers to the period during which a guest occupies a room at the property.
2. Bookings & Reservations
- All bookings are subject to availability and confirmation by Shahenshah Heritage Houseboat.
- Bookings made via WhatsApp, phone, or email are confirmed only after the required advance payment (where applicable) has been received and a confirmation message has been sent by our team.
- Guests must provide accurate personal details, contact information, and the correct number of guests at the time of booking.
- Room rates are subject to change without prior notice until a booking is confirmed. Once confirmed, the agreed rate will remain fixed for that booking.
- Rates displayed on the website are per room, per night, and are subject to applicable taxes unless otherwise stated.
- Direct bookings made through our website, phone, or WhatsApp receive the best available rates and personalised service from our team.
3. Check-In & Check-Out
- Standard check-in time: 2:00 PM
- Standard check-out time: 12:00 Noon
- Early check-in and late check-out are subject to availability and may incur an additional charge. Please contact us in advance to request this.
- Valid government-issued photo identification (Aadhaar, Passport, Voter ID, or Driving Licence) is mandatory for all guests at check-in, in accordance with Jammu & Kashmir tourism and lodging regulations.
- Foreign nationals must carry a valid passport and visa and may be subject to additional registration formalities as required by local authorities.
- The primary guest must be at least 18 years of age to check in. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
4. Payments
- An advance payment or deposit may be required to confirm certain bookings, particularly during peak season (April–October) or during festival periods.
- Accepted payment methods include UPI, bank transfer, and payment gateway transactions. Payment instructions will be shared at the time of booking confirmation.
- The balance amount, where applicable, is payable at check-in or check-out unless otherwise agreed.
- All rates are quoted in Indian Rupees (INR) unless stated otherwise.
5. Cancellation & Refund Policy
- Free cancellation is available up to 7 days before the check-in date.
- If the reservation is cancelled within 7 days of arrival, or in case of a no-show, 100% of the total booking amount will be charged.
6. Guest Conduct & House Rules
- Guests are expected to treat the houseboat, its furnishings, and staff with respect and care.
- Smoking is permitted only in designated outdoor areas, including the sun deck. Smoking inside carved wooden rooms is strictly prohibited due to fire safety and preservation of heritage woodwork.
- Open flames, candles, or fireworks are not permitted inside guest rooms. Bonfires are arranged only by our staff in designated safe areas.
- Loud music or noise that disturbs other guests or the peaceful lake environment is not permitted, particularly between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM.
- Outside food and alcoholic beverages may be subject to property policy. Please check with our team in advance.
- Pets are welcomed on a case-by-case basis. Please inform us in advance so we can confirm suitability and any applicable conditions.
- Any damage to houseboat property, furnishings, or hand-carved woodwork caused by a guest will be charged at the cost of repair or replacement.
- We reserve the right to refuse service or request a guest to leave the property, without refund, in cases of behaviour that is abusive, unsafe, or disruptive to other guests or staff.
7. Liability & Safety
- Shahenshah Heritage Houseboat takes reasonable care to ensure guest safety, including the structural integrity of the houseboat, electrical systems, and water access points.
- Guests undertaking Shikara rides, swimming, or any water-based activity do so at their own risk. Children must be supervised by a guardian near the water's edge and during all boat transfers.
- Life jackets are available on request for Shikara rides and are recommended for non-swimmers and children.
- We are not liable for loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings except where caused by proven negligence on our part.
- Guests with pre-existing medical conditions are advised to carry necessary medication, as Srinagar's high-altitude climate and the remote houseboat setting may affect access to immediate medical facilities.
- We strongly recommend guests arrange their own travel insurance for the duration of their stay.
8. Weather & Force Majeure
- Kashmir's weather can be unpredictable, particularly in winter (snowfall) and during monsoon-adjacent periods. Some activities such as Shikara rides or day trips may be postponed or cancelled for guest safety.
- We are not liable for delays, cancellations, or disruptions to travel plans, activities, or transfers caused by weather conditions, road closures, flight cancellations, civil disturbances, strikes ("bandh"), natural disasters, or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control ("Force Majeure").
- In such cases, we will make reasonable efforts to assist guests with rescheduling, alternative arrangements, or appropriate refunds where within our control.
9. Photography & Marketing
- With guest consent, we may photograph or film common areas (sun deck, dining room, Shikara rides) for use in our marketing material, website, and social media.
- We will not publish identifiable photographs or testimonials of guests without their explicit consent.
- Guests are welcome to photograph and share their own experience on social media. We appreciate it when guests tag or mention Shahenshah Heritage Houseboat.
10. Intellectual Property
All content on this website — including text, photographs, logos, the Shahenshah Heritage Houseboat name
and branding, and design elements — is the property of Shahenshah Heritage Houseboat and is protected
under applicable Indian copyright and trademark law. No content may be reproduced, distributed, or used
commercially without our prior written permission.
11. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these
Terms, a booking, or a stay at Shahenshah Heritage Houseboat shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction
of the competent courts in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir.
12. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to amend these Terms & Conditions at any time. Updated Terms will be posted on this
page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of our website or services after such changes
constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
